Photo circa 1940. An animal nutritionist, Dr. Max Kriss (third from left, standing) began his work at Pennsylvania State College in the Institute of Animal Nutrition and served as Professor of Animal Nutrition (1936-1941). His research interests included energy metabolism of farm animals, fundamentals of stable ventilation, feeding standards for dairy cows, and specific dynamic effects of nutrients. The author of more than 50 papers dealing with animal nutrition presented in numerous agriculture journals, a collection of his papers is maintained by Penn State.
