Pincus Shalita (jpg)

Pincus Shalita

Possible pre-wedding photo circa 1896. Known as Pinnie, uncle of Sima (Charny) Kriss, he died tragically in the great flu epidemic of 1918 which hit Philadelphia especially hard in the early fall. Joseph Pincus Kriss, born eight months later, was named in his honor. Husband of Rose Shalita. The Pincus name has been passed down in the rabbinical Shalita family branch since at least 1779 (see Rabbi Pinhas Shapira, 1779-1872). Pincus was born around 1875. Photo courtesy of Sam Polis.
