Sticia Fish (jpg)

Sticia Fish

Born Stisel Fish around 1862 in Stepan, Russia, she brought many old world habits to America. Although she could neither read nor write, this photograph dated November 4, 1930 bears on inscription (written by her husband Abraham) signed Mother Brown. The family usually spelled the name Browne following the English custom championed by son Lewis.
